What will the New Year Bring?

Today Justmoney will only have a quick look at what the financial papers have to say. There are tumble weeds blowing down the main street of financial journalism right now and even they are trying to skip off to the beach.

What Justmoney would like to do is ask you to email us at editor@justmoney.co.za with all your tips and tricks, predictions for the New Year and anything you feel you have to say about personal finance, your banks, savings and money matters.

Maybe you have a story for us about how you maxed out your cards and what you plan to do about it next year. Perhaps you had a spending plan this season and stuck to it, share with us if this allowed you a little something special extra.

We will publish the best answers in the New Year and really look forward to your contribution.

Even if you don't have anything to say about personal finance let us know what you think of Justmoney so we can work to make it work for you even better.

Just email us at editor@justmoney.co.za.

Ok well that was the call to action.

Email us.

Let us know what you think.

And now for something not entirely different, here is what the financial newswires were saying today.

Business Report looked at the state of the world economy in 2009 and their experts are predicting a grim one. The article is focussed on the international picture and while it is definitely going to get worse out there, there is some degree of decoupling from the global scene that South Africa enjoys.

We will be affected by the larger scale events but we will not be affected as badly as most of our economic fundamentals are both sound and improving.

Now is a good time for realizing the grass is really green on this side and those green backs don't look so good over there any more.

The Economist looked, in depth, about what the global fall out will mean for globalisation. They looked to emerging markets to drive the growth that will pull the western economies out of their crash. The article then goes on to look at where these emerging economies will be able to strategically position themselves, noting that if current trends continue, we can expect emerging market companies to account for one third of the Fortune list in the next ten years.

The Dispatch, in local news, looks at the pressured local housing market, expecting it to remain so well into next year. The current up blips look like bear market rallies and the housing market is not expected to recover at any pace until the end of 2009. Justmoney says wait it out for the market to turn, seek expert advice and start saving for that deposit now. And don't forget to mail us at editor@justmoney.co.za, with all your comments about all things money, it maybe Justmoney, but it still makes the world go round.
